The 8th annual Driving for H.O.P.E. Golf Tournament to benefit the John Hayes Fund for H.O.P.E. at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute was held on October 7, 2024, at Tunxis Country Club. The annual fundraiser, which celebrates the life and philanthropy of the late John Hayes, raised $12,500 in support of oncology patient financial assistance.
For the Hayes family, H.O.P.E. stands for Helping Others Pay Expenses. The fund, created by and in honor of their husband, father, and grandfather, eases the financial burden of patients undergoing cancer treatments at Hartford Hospital—allowing them to focus on their recovery and family during an extremely challenging time.
John Hayes believed there was a reason he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He was meant to help others in the same situation, but who were far less fortunate and faced financial barriers, in addition to their illness. The Driving for H.O.P.E. Golf Tournament has provided $70,000 in total philanthropic support to the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute and its Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center.
