The UConn Health/Hartford HealthCare Chase Family Movement Disorders Fellowship Program is a key component of our long-term strategy to expand access to specialized neurological care.

The program was launched in 2019 thanks to a generous seven-figure philanthropic investment from the Chase Family, who were inspired by their personal experience caring for a loved one with a movement disorder.

“Our father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and back then we had to go to New York to seek treatment because there was nowhere to go in Hartford,” shares Cheryl Chase, who established the program with her brother Arnold Chase, Vice Chair of the HHC Hartford Region Board of Directors.

“Our family wanted to ensure that no one else would have to deal with that inconvenience—and we are so proud to help establish this program and try to improve the quality of life for local patients with Parkinson’s.”

The Chase Family Movement Disorders Fellowship Program is designed to develop highly skilled and compassionate movement disorder specialists equipped to lead in this complex and evolving field. Since its launch, the program has graduated four fellows, two of whom are now full-time colleagues. In 2025, the Chase Family generously committed an additional seven-figure investment to sustain the successful program and develop more future neurology leaders.

“The Chase Family’s involvement with Hartford HealthCare is quite personal, and we are happy to continue supporting the program,” says Cheryl. “Our father was the impetus; we wanted to honor his memory and support as many people in our community as possible.”

“We want people with movement disorders to continue with their hopes and dreams and make their disease as small a part of their lives as it can be,” she continues.

“The Chase Family’s historic philanthropic support of Hartford HealthCare has been incredibly impactful and deeply meaningful for the communities that rely on our world-class care,” shared Lynn Rossini, Vice President of Philanthropy. “We are so honored that Cheryl, Arnold, and the Chase Family have entrusted us to uphold the legacy of their parents, David and Rhoda, and we are grateful for their unwavering commitment to strengthening healthcare access for local patients with movement disorders.”
