How Donations Make a Difference

Dollars raised through the Annual Campaign support many programs and services at Hartford Hospital.  With the help of donations, the hospital was able to:

  • Expand the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation into a state-of-the-art training center for comprehensive, experiential learning and innovation using simulation and other leading-edge technologies.
  • Renovate the Emergency Department, adding 23 new patient rooms, upgrading equipment and improving communication.
  • Upgrade our Mobile Mammography Program from analog to digital technology to screen twice as many women in the region.
  • Renovate the Labor & Delivery Unit to provide a brigher atmosphere and better comfort for visiting partners and families.
  • Provide education materials for the Stroke Center, including a Brain Model which allows caregivers to utilize a visual tool to explain procedures to patients and their families.
  • Upgrade the equipment of our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, which provides individualized, medically-supervised exercise and education programs for patients who have experienced a cardiac event or may be at risk for heart disease.
  • Increase awareness of Organ Donation and Living Donors by supporting community outreach for the Transplant Program.

With continued support, we hope to:

  • Provide remote-access video capability for our physicians to monitor stroke victims at outlying locations prior to transport.
  • Purchase much needed state-of-the-art equipment to enhance the training and education of our LIFE STAR flight crews.
  • Expand our Operating Room capacity and build 24 new private critical care rooms to meet growing demand.
  • Expand and upgrade our Outpatient Transplant Center, where patients with advanced kidney or liver disease can have all their health care needs met in one location.
  • Develop a six-bed, Level IV Epilepsy Center, the only one in central, eastern and northern Connecticut.
