Black & Red

Hartford Hospital’s next Black & Red will be the 30th in the gala’s storied history. As we look ahead to a winter that will be like none other in our lifetimes and now see the expected second rise in cases in Connecticut and across the United States, we must pause our Black & Red. We will not hold the Black & Red in January 2021, not even as a virtual online event.

Instead, we plan to use a format that has distinguished our gala in recent years: a television broadcast around the time the gala would have been held to acknowledge the impact the pandemic has had on our community, our hospital, and our health system. We will also recognize the continuing dedication, excellence, and heroism of our staff on the front lines.

As we have enjoyed generous financial support from so many sponsors and friends of the Black & Red over the years, we ask you to stand with us as we address a “normal” to which we should not return when the pandemic is behind us: racial and ethnic disparities in health status and outcomes. At Hartford HealthCare, we have been working hard to drive changes that will make a difference for all the people and communities we serve. We have the opportunity to create a new normal that sets the pace for the country.

You will hear more about our plans, and we will welcome your continued interest and support.

Stay safe and be well.
