The Purple Light Project was created because of the increased needs of mental health issues related to wellness during COVID.

The Purple Light Projects name is significant. Purple is for “the purple pod” which is the psychiatric section of Hartford Hospitals ER. Light is to represent our light always being on for those suffering from a mental health crisis. The Hospitals vulnerable patients can directly benefit from getting their basic needs met, such as receiving warm winter clothing, medicine, food, hygiene supplies, blankets and funds. 100% of the funds raised through the 5k goes to patients.

Online donations can be made through the form below. Mail checks to Hartford Hospital, Department of Philanthropy, 80 Seymour Street, PO Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102. Please reference the Purple Light Project in the memo section.

About the Purple Light Project

The Purple Light Project is intended to bring attention and support for our mental health patients. Through charitable donations, we purchase basic and other needs that will make a difference in a patient’s recovery. All too often, mental health is stigmatized or in the shadows. The Purple Light Project shines a light and reminds people that there is always someone available among Hartford HealthCare’s behavioral health staff to help.
