3rd Annual Captain Lamarre Golf Tournament Supports Hartford Hospital Oncology Care, Patients, and Research

The 3rd annual Captain Jim Lamarre Golf Tournament was held September 7, 2024, at Tunxis Country Club where the community gathered to honor the late Captain Jim Lamarre of the Rocky Hill Fire Department and support the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Hartford Hospital and its Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center.

The community event, which also provides several local scholarships each year, raised $10,000 for the hospital’s cancer center—which is where Captain Lamarre received treatment during his battle against cancer.

Hartford Hospital Auxiliary

Benefit Golf Tournament to Fund New Surgical Lounge and Visitor Center for Families and Visitors

The 35th Auxiliary Benefit Golf Tournament—held on September 16, 2024, at Hartford Golf Club—raised an astounding $514,700, with net proceeds set to support a renovation of the hospital’s surgical family lounge and the establishment of a new Visitor Center.

Last year, Hartford Hospital performed over 38,000 surgeries. This enhanced surgical family lounge will serve as a centralized access point for families and visitors that provides concierge-level service and a comforting atmosphere where they can recharge, rest, meet, charge devices, and check in with the world while they are away from home. More than $8 million has been raised for hospital beneficiaries through the Auxiliary’s golf tournament since it first teed off in 1989.
