The Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance (CTBTA) awarded $50,000 to Hartford Hospital to fund brain tumor research, programs, and medical equipment at the HealthCare Cancer Institute at Hartford Hospital and its Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center.

“We are very appreciative of the CTBTA’s longtime support, which helps us to continuously enhance research and programs that have a significant impact on our patients’ lives,” said Andrew L. Salner, MD, FACR, FASTRO, medical director of the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Hartford Hospital and its Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center. “Working with partners like the CTBTA, we will be better able to address financial toxicity and assist patients—particularly those in underserved and underinsured communities—with the financial and livelihood impacts of receiving cancer treatment.”

In addition to the grants, the CTBTA also donated 30 “Blankets of Hope,” which will be provided to cancer patients visiting Hartford Hospital for treatment.

“Hartford Hospital continues to be a leader in our state and we’re firmly in this together with them,” said Chris Cusano, Executive Director of the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance. “The institution means the world to so many people and we thank them for their continued support and care for brain tumor patients and their families.”

“The Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance has generously provided over $350,000 to Hartford Hospital over the course of our longtime partnership with them,” shared Lynn B. Rossini, VP of Philanthropy at Hartford Hospital. “We’re proud to consider them part of our hospital family and cannot thank them enough for their support of our cancer patients and their loved ones and the advocacy they provide for cancer research in Connecticut.”
