Throughout her extensive tenure at Hartford Hospital, Cornelia has served in almost every volunteer capacity imaginable—from working in Hartford Hospital’s Auxiliary Store (her first volunteer assignment in 1967) to assisting with gurney transports, volunteering at our blood bank, sitting on several boards and committees—including acting as Chair of the Art Committee for 11 years—and many other good works. She is a member of the hospital’s Volunteer Honor Board with over 20,200 volunteer hours.

One of her most significant philanthropic-driven contributions to the hospital has been through her involvement with the Auxiliary Golf Tournament, where she has provided 20 years of service as a member of the Tournament’s Committee, three of which were as a co-chair. During this two-decade span, she helped the Auxiliary grow the tournament in size, popularity, and philanthropic support. On average, the golf tournament now raises $400,000 each year for a Hartford Hospital beneficiary—nearly 45 times more than when the tournament and Cornelia’s involvement first started.

Like many of our volunteers, Cornelia believes that her experience at Hartford Hospital has been both eye-opening and worthwhile.

“I never imagined how a minor volunteer assignment in the Auxiliary Store would burgeon into more than a half-century of highly enriching and greatly rewarding experiences,” shared Cornelia in a previous interview for Hartford Hospital. “In the ensuing 55 years, I have met so many talented, brilliant, and interesting individuals across all walks of life—captains of industry, brilliant and innovative physicians and administrators, talented artists, dedicated volunteers, and literally hundreds of Auxiliary Board members with skillsets in all fields of endeavor.”

We thank Cornelia Hull for her many decades of service to our hospital and for embodying the spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility within our community.

Hartford Hospital is grateful to the many volunteers who have supported our care teams and provided our patients and their loved ones with a helping hand, a friendly visit or hello, or an advocate for their healthcare and comfort—among many other contributions.
